HOW HE ASKED?
The proposal started with a trip to Hatton Garden to select a diamond and have it set into a ring. This had to be done in secret a month before the proposal, so the ring could be made up. After a second trip to Hatton Garden to collect the ring, everything was ready.
One sunny June weekend he suggested a picnic. They had recently brought a nice picnic hamper, ready for a summer of picnics. After preparing the picnic they set out to a meadow by the river Whitewater in North Warnbrough, where they had walked on the second date. She was a little curious when he took his camera bag, just in case they saw something to photograph. What she didn't know about was the ring hidden where the teleconvertor would normally sit.
Arriving at the meadow they spread out their picnic blanket in the sun, amid the meadow orchids, buttercups and other wild flowers. They sat down, opened a bottle of tradditional lemonade and started to eat.
Once they had finished eating he discreetly removed the ring box from the camera bag, where she couldn't see. Keeping the box hidden in his hand he told her how much she meant to him and how much he had come to love her in their time together. Opening the box and offering it to her he said:
WILL YOU MARRY ME ANGELA?
She looked slightly surprised, but happy as...
SHE HUGGED HIM
AND SAID "YES!"
At this point she let her romantic side show, by asking why he had chosen to propose in "A bed of weeds". He pointed to the orchids and suggested they are not weeds. She What's App-ed a picture to her sisters for a second opinion...
After finishing the picnic they went to see his parents, to tell them the good news. They decided to see how long it would take the parents to spot the huge new rock on her finger. After 20 minutes of making sure her hand was in plain sight she started trying to make it more obvious, bringing it to her face, waving it around, even pointing to it.
After another 10 minutes they exchanged a look and knew they would have to lead the unobservant parents to it. She asked if they had spotted anything new, keeping her hand by her face. They still didn't get it. She started pointing and eventually they twigged.
